Dr. Rajat Agrawal did his graduation in Mechanical Engineering from Dayalbagh Education Institute, Agra in 1995 and Masters in Business Management in 1999 and Doctorate in 2002. Dr. Agrawal is working as Assistant Professor in Department of Management Studies, IIT Roorkee since 2008. His involvement in area of innovation and business incubation is a important reason for handling duties of CEO at newly started TIEDA (Technology Incubation and Entrepreneurship Development Activity) Centre at IIT Roorkee. He is a member of working committee of Intellectual Property Rights Cell of IIT Roorkee. He is also a member of Board of Studies of IIT Roorkee. He is guiding eight students for Ph.D. degree. Two students have been awarded Ph.D. degree. He has teaching experience of UG and PG of more than thirteen years, besides two years of industry experience. He has participated in various national and International conferences and published papers in journals. He has published more than 28 papers in different proceedings and journals. His current area of research and writing is social entrepreneurship, sustainable supply chain management, green marketing, and case studies on MSME sector. He has contributed chapters in three different books published by IGNOU, Delhi and NIOS, Delhi. He has given more than 15 talks on various subjects of rural development and technical, management education from All India Radio. He has presented papers, chaired technical sessions in more than 50 national/ International conferences.
He is involved in a major research project from UGC, New Delhi to develop management concepts from ancient Sanskrit literature. He was an active member in a large project (Rs49.5 million) on Knowledge Economy sponsored by Govt. of India at IIT Rorkee particularly related to skill development for better employability. He is also handling a project on Cycle Rickshaw to develop it as a tool for social entrepreneurship. Cycle Rickshaw project is a unique effort to improve design of cycle rickshaw to make it more user friendly, puller friendly, to develop ownership by pullers and to use modern benefits of ICT for better services. He is also a part of project to develop Ganga River Basin Environmental Management Plan. Govt. of India has awarded this project to consortium of 7 IITs. He is looking after Socio-Cultural aspects in river basin. He is also involved in some of the International programmes such as ACARA challenge. He was a mentor for ACARA Challenge for IIT Roorkee where he helped IITR students to participate in Acara Challenge 2011 with Duke University, USA and Acara Challenge 2010 with Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, USA. IITR team won this challenge for two times in row in 2010 and 2011.
He has been awarded best teacher from Social organizations like Rotary Club and Bharat Vikas Parishad. He is in advisory boards of various management institutes. He was on panel of expert at APES, 2009, and 2010 Sydney, Australia. He travelled to Germany, Switzerland, France, Pakistan and Turkey to participate in various academic programmes. He is reviewer of various national/ international journals. He is a member of Academy of Management, USA and All India Management Association, New Delhi, Integrating Spirituality and Organizational Leadership (ISOL), New Delhi. Recently publishes a book called Masters Speak on Management Education with Bloomsbury India.
